SPECIALIST IN AMERICAN EXPATRIATES • ADDICTIONS • WORK RELATED STRESS • RELATIONSHIP ISSUES • EXPATRIATE RELOCATION STRESS • FAMILY DYNAMICS • PTSD • ANGER MANAGEMENT • ANXIETY • DEPRESSION • LOW SELF ESTEEM • ADHD
Hello, my name is Ann and I am a registered member of the BACP. I have significant experience in online counselling and as a result I firmly believe in its benefits. I have done online and phone counselling myself and I found it to be effective. I've worked with lots of people who have never experienced counselling before and I am aware that this can be an anxiety provoking and nervous experience. However, based on my experience I am of the opinion that the release of speaking about something which you may have kept private for a long time is extremely cathartic. If you've come this far, I can offer you confidential and encouraging support through whatever it is you wish to work through. You may not even know what that is! Just that it might be time to talk to someone. My previous career was in the corporate world where I worked for over fifteen years in the beer industry. I'm an American expatriate having first moved to London in 2004. One of my special areas of interest is helping American expats (or any expats) adjust emotionally and psychologically with all the differences they face in the United Kingdom. I know because I faced the same challenges. In addition, I can work with any issue you wish to bring to me. As a registered member of BACP, I am committed to my continual personal and professional development and also work in accordance with their ethical framework for good practice.
SPECIALIST IN ADHD and Autism in adults + Depression + Anxiety + Abuse + Bullying + Relationship Difficulties + Gender Identity + Sexuality + Relationship Diversity (including Kink and Polyamory) + Post Natal Depression + Grief + Bereavement + C-PTSD + Trauma + Eating Disorders + Attachment + Family Dynamics + Workplace Issues
Hello. As a counsellor/psychotherapist, I am committed to choosing a therapeutic approach that works best for you, and view the relationship between us both to be crucial in facilitating whatever changes you want to make.
I know that shopping around and finding the right fit is important before investing money, time and emotional energy - and so I'm always happy to have a brief informal chat before you commit to any sessions.
I work with a variety of presenting issues, and am happy to work with you for short-term or long-term therapy.
I am LGBTQIA+/GSRD (Gender, Sexuality and Relationship Diversity) allied, sex positive and body positive. I also have lived experience of Autism and ADHD and keep up to date with research and services around neurodivergence.
I have previously counselled children from age 5 upwards in school settings, and with parents in a post-natal depression charity. Prior to my counselling career, I worked in the arts and education sectors, supporting people of different ages and abilities to explore and express themselves - which it seems is something of a passion of mine. My arts training and background mean that I'm not averse to bringing creativity into the therapeutic relationship if appropriate.

Hello and Welcome to my profile!
All the experiences we encountered since childhood have shaped our beliefs system and play a big part in the way we relate to others and ourselves. Counselling offers the opportunity to review unhelpful thinking patterns while holding a space where you can find your own narrative and give meaning to your struggles. Counselling is a process that facilitates inner discoveries and enhance self-awareness. Counselling can be of invaluable support in getting in touch with inner needs, wants and desires.
My mission is to facilitate the exploration of any issues you want to offload creating a safe and confidential space where there is no pressure to perform or to meet external demands.
I work holistically, acknowledging the complexity of being human, as I believe that everyone can heal and thrive in any area of life they wish to focus upon.
Within my professional practice I always demonstrate sensitivity to individual differences when working with clients of diverse ethnicity, gender identity, religion, sexual orientation and cultural background, treating all people with unconditional positive regards and respect.

For the past 10 years I have been a Lead Keyworker working with clients on the Autistic Spectrum with secondary and higher education settings. Since 2018 I have been working in a local hospice as a volunteer bereavement counsellor.
SPECIALIST IN Depression • Stress • Anxiety • Sexuality • Self-Esteem • Substance Misuse • Addiction • Bereavement and Loss • Work-Life Balance • Anger Management • Relationship Issues
I have been practicing as a therapist for 20 years; working initially with substance misuse within a community addictions programme. I then spent three extremely challenging but rewarding years working in a residential drug and alcohol rehab. I have also worked for Cruse Bereavement Care, in a GP surgery and for two years taught on an undergraduate counselling course at the American University in Richmond, Surrey. For the past twelve years I have worked part-time in a psychiatric hospital, providing both individual psychotherapy and running therapy groups on both the addictions programme and the general psychiatric programme. Alongside this I have developed and maintained my own private practice.
In my spare time I enjoy reading, music, cinema, running, travel and cooking.
SPECIALIST IN DEPRESSION & LOW MOOD DISORDERS; ANXIETY/GENERALISED ANXIETY DISORDER/PHOBIAS/PANIC ATTACKS; STRESS/ANGER MANAGEMENT; TRAUMA/PTSD; GRIEF/LOSS/BEREAVEMENT; FAMILY/RELATIONSHIP ISSUES; ADDICTION - ALCOHOL, PRESCRIBED AND NON-PRESCRIBED DRUGS & RELAPSE PREVENTION; SELF-ESTEEM AND MOTIVATION. FEELING STUCK/LOST. EXISTENTIAL CRISIS.
I have worked in the field of mental health for over twenty years and I do this work from a place of love, passion and vocation. As well as a thorough and in-depth professional training I also bring the important often difficult learnings from life, relationships, parenting, loss, ageing: any such central components of being alive. My central thrust is towards connection, authenticity and trust: to offer this and thus encourage the same from you.
I create a safe space in which you can feel ready to unburden yourself from the weight of whatever you are carrying alone. Whether it is your anxieties and fears or your anger and dissatisfaction; whether it is haunting trauma or crippling self-doubt: whatever it is I am there to accompany you on the journey to the bottom of it. The work is all about communication and expression, through listening to your story and through working with your body where so often tension is trapped and tormenting. The timing of your arrival in therapy is always the right timing: when your need wells right up to the surface and sends you to me I am here.
